Avett and Lilly Belle spent the weekend at Mom and Dave's house. I think they had a great time. Mom and Dave left the back door open for them so they could just come and go as they please. Lilly Belle brought in a present each time she came in - leaves.... she didn't want to come in empty pawed.

They were absolutely filthy. I rained while we were gone but the pups didn't seem to care and still spent a lot of time outside. We had to give them baths when we got home. They were so tired that they didn't even resist. They slept all night and are asleep next to me again on the couch right now.

Lesson to me and Jim.... we need to tire them out more each day so they will sleep through the night. Mom and Dave had to wake them up each morning to go out to go potty.

Dad and Greg's Visit to Raleigh

Dad and Greg arrived in Raleigh about 9:30 Thursday night. They would have arrived sooner if someone had done their college paperwork ahead of time and not procrastinated until the last minute... (we won't name names!) :)

On Friday, Timmie, Amy and the girls came over. Dad gave the girls presents that Kathy picked up before the guys headed to NC. Then we went to the pool - Madison, Malaina and Skylyn thought that it was so funny to squirt Grandpa. Grandpa got so wet that he decided that he may as well get in the pool. He said that he had not owned a pair of swim trunks in over 10 years. He had to buy a pair for the trip. Then we went to Amy's house for dinner - yummy! I am now a big fan of carrot cake! The girls were their silly selves!

Saturday, Jim got a 7:48 tee time.... Greg was not a huge fan of that. He usually sleeps late and that was way too early for him but he made it up to go golfing. Jim, Ed, Dad and Greg golfed 27 holes at Lakeshore in Durham. If that wasn't enough to tire them out, we went to the Carolina Mudcats game. Dad thought that the huge shopping cart was very cool. The nachos that Greg bought were very hot! The Mudcats won and Maddie got her picture taken with Muddy. Madison said that Muddy Jr creeped her out - she thinks that midgets are evil! :)

Sunday, we hit the pool again! Dad, Madison and Jim played a lot of monkey in the middle - appropriate place for all 3 of them! Malaina had a lot of fun pouring or throwing water on people. Skylyn learned that her Daddy was the mailman :) Not really but very cute in the way she says it! We then went to Timmie's house where Matt made us an awesome dinner (of course!). Then we celebrated my birthday with a Carvel Ice Cream cake - delicious!

Dad bought us chocolate no-bake cookies at Food Lion - the 4 of us, Brandy, Timmie, Amy and Greg all love no-bake cookies!

We had a good talk Sunday night and then Monday morning came very quickly and it was time for Dad and Greg to drive home. I gave them directions that probably cut about 100 miles off their trip. Lesson learned - girls always have to make sure boys are prepared to travel.

Now it is back to work. Hopefully we will get to see everyone again real soon!

Much better day at the Archer's! Malaina and Sky seem to be getting more used to the puppies. Avett is doing a lot better with his jumping but needs a reminder every once in awhile. I couldn't get a picture of Lilly Belle and ESPN together but they are best buds! ESPN is such a good boy, he just lets Lilly Belle get all up in his face. Malaina just loves Lilly Belle, she was even imitating her scratching her head. Who knew that Malaina was so flexible?!?!? Lilly Belle and Avett are just like Malaina and Skylyn - as soon as they get to TT's house, they head right for the food. ESPN's bowls are bigger than they are!

Our little friend Piper came to visit us on Saturday (her parents, our good friends Kevin and Keri were with her). We went to the pool and then to Amy and Marty's house for an incredible dinner. Lilly Belle had to go to the vet today to get spayed. She is spending the night and Avett is lost without his sister. He has been sitting by the door waiting for her to come home. Avett has been looking everywhere thinking that she is hiding on him, as she often does. Lilly Belle did well with her surgery Dr McCaskill said. She also had to have 2 K9 baby teeth pulled since her permanent teeth were coming in. We can't wait for Lilly Belle to come home!

I bought the little tray to make popsicles - usually you get them for kids, since I don't have kids, I get them for my puppies! Avett and Lilly Belle loved the beach. Lilly Belle just wanted to dig in the sand and run. Avett, of course just wanted to jump on Lilly Belle and play. When we got back to the townhouse, Lilly Belle just crashed on the cold tile kitchen floor - I think the beach tired her out!! Avett, no way, still lots of energy! We walked to the beach this morning but found out that we can drive on the beach so tomorrow we will drive down with our cooler and chairs and everything but the kitchen sink!

Today at Publix I found Frosty Paws. I love to buy anything and everything for Avett and Lilly Belle so I could not resist. I got peanut butter flavor, they come in a box of 4 so I split 1 between the 2. They loved it!! Puppies first long road trip

The puppies were so good on the trip. We hit traffic in SC for about1½ hours (bad accident) - Lilly Belle started to make some noise so we just pulled off to the side of 95 and let the pups out to go potty and have a drink of water. Then when we got to St Augustine, we had to wait for about 5 minutes at the draw bridge and they were getting antsy. Other than that, that was the only time they made any noise on the whole trip. We put them in their crates at 10:00 last night and they slept until about 7:30 this morning.

Sympathy Pains

I woke up at 2:00 in the morning May 6 and had terrible stomach pain. I do not usually get belly aches (not to be confused with belly aching!) or even wake up when I don't feel well so I knew something was wrong. Actually I joked that I was having sympathy pains for our boy Avett. As the day progressed, the pain subsided but Jim talked me into going to the Emergency Room. Good thing - I am typing from my hospital bed at the Wake Med Main Campus. At about 4:00 this morning, they removed my appendix. They gave me a picture so I will post it when I get home. I am a bit sore but feel better, just very tired.

One of the coolest things a relative stranger has ever done for me...this picture was taken yesterday, and then taken to the Holt Foundation fund raiser last night where Torry & Terrence Holt signed it. From what I hear, Torry went nuts when he saw the plate, which just added to the legend of this gift. Simply AWESOME!!! A small pennant I have in my cube was also signed by the brothers, but this took the cake. I'll be framing it, most definitely!!!

The grandpups had their first visit to Grandma and Grandpa's house today. Of course I forgot my camera so hopefully Grandma will send some pictures to post. They have a fenced in yard so Avett and Lilly Belle had a ball! They had to check everything out first but then it was non-stop playing and running. I think Grandma was a little surprised at how quick these two are! Then the 4 of us went to eat at Tavola Rossa, Avett and Lilly Belle stayed in their crates at Grandma and Grandpa's house. After dinner, Avett and Lilly Belle got to check out the inside of Grandma and Grandpa's house. Hooray, no accidents! I think they did find some crumbs from all the fun of Malaina and Skylyn last night!

Jim and I were both not able to come home from work Thursday night to let our babies out. Timmie offered to come over anytime to take the puppies out but I thought it would be good to give Maddie some responsibility and she loves all thing business! We drew up a contract and Madison is now our official babysitter!

Thursday was Maddie's first experience.... Avett peed on her. Lilly Belle bit her a bit too hard when she was playing. Madison wore shorts and they both have sharp nails (we will get them cut this weekend). Timmie thought they were beating each other up but that is how they play. Madison does not know how I walked up to the fountain in Bedford the other day, she said it must have taken me 2 hours because they play so much.

Is Madison going to be willing to watch them again?

I was just watching Inside Edition and saw that Oprah's puppy died within the last few days so I did some research to find out what happened. Poor little puppy had parvo just like my baby boy Avett. I am so thankful that Avett is doing better. He has a vet appointment next Friday for a check up and his next round of shots (Lilly Belle too!). Please keep praying for my little guy and girl to stay healthy!

Lunch Break - or Not So Much!

B.P. (Before Puppies) Amy would call and ask me to meet her, Malaina, Skylyn and Cassidy for lunch at Chick-Fil-A and it would be a great - a nice stress reliever in the middle of the day! The girls would have so much fun playing in the play area and we would share our "special treat."
A.P. (After Puppies) Amy called this morning and said that she and the girls would meet me at my house during my lunch break. She knows that I come home everyday to take care of the puppies. Skylyn was deathly afraid of the puppies and almost hyperventilated each time Avett or Lilly Belle would come near her or if Amy put her down. Malaina thought they were OK but she wanted me to hold Avett so she could walk around since she thought his claws were too sharp. Cassidy liked them, she sat right on the floor and played with them. But everything ended up being OK when I brought out their Valentine's presents. (I know it is St Patrick's Day but I have been a bad aunt and have not been to see them to give them their Valentine gifts).

So I thought it was so cute that Avett was sleeping/hiding under his bed in his crate. Well.... tonight I noticed that the house was starting to smell like pee. I watch them like hawks and take them out if they start to go pottie and clean the wood floor with Lysol or Nature's Miracle as soon as they go if I don't catch it in time. Well.... I think Avett has been peeing under his bed in his crate. No more bed for him until he can learn to not do that! Right now Lilly Belle is suffering too because I bleached all their bedding and toys and bleached their crates. Right now I am trying to get motivated to do a complete scrub down of the floors!
